You Can't Make This Shit Up

Making Smiles Happen…

“Can someone please open the door”…

It’s a must and rather safe to say- we ALL been here. Whether it was freezing or just warm enough, waiting for that door to open is just another beast in the AMC jungle. Still upset you are at the movie theaters before noon…

“Why are all these people here so early”…?!

Finally in the doors, you must quickly shift your mental position. Opening is rather tricky and down right frightening for new hires. Yet I’m never disappointed when we all can laugh and smile before clocking in. The solidarity already in the air…

NOT FOR EVERYONE!!

Cause a lot of ya slack, but this is not for this!!

This is the admiration created when I walk in for my closing shift and already see a line to the arcade. The bathrooms filled with bullshit- literally. Seeing the concession team making smiles happen- NON STOP. I think I may have heard a number one more than hundred times. Nothing like you guys and gals who have been doing this. Ushers, box office, kitchen- curbing their own quarrels for the betterment of the team. Ushers still exit greeting realizing no one came out with garbage. Box office dealing with guests who believe they are owed something when their tickets aren’t even for here. The patience of the kitchen when everything seems stacked against them.

How can you not recognize such greatness?!

My admiration for this team was already in place due to my first week of ushering. Just how you get promoted and actually want more responsibilities in such a line business perplexed me.

Just how…

Until my wish of learning kitchen was granted. I didn’t realize how center the kitchen was. It’s the nucleus of the whole place in my opinion. It’s traffic is unmatched. Here is where I learned to love my passion as well as my team. It inspires me every single time I see a red necklace back barring. Upset I won’t stay on register- that they’re here to help. Studying my team to learn their weakness and strengths. And when I say learn, you ALL have taught me something. Never before have I worked somewhere and became excited seeing who will be around. Even when disappointed at the team, still a learning experience…

“A leader makes due with what he has”…

At first I believed him to be a little excessive until his lessons improved my abilities in real time…

“Know your audience”…

Working with you ladies and gentlemen has shown me strengths I believed to be non existent. You know how it feels to have no order machine, no stock and still have to perform at a certain level- NEVER RED!! Many of you do and this is why I admire you so much. Why when my brand is my brand, there will be a spot just for you. When clocked off and still performing duties. I can only wish to have such dedication when it’s my time to lead.

Despite regular human irregularities such as disagreements, I never enjoyed working with people as I do here. Never before has the overall vibe been assisting. Makes me want to perform even higher seeing the person who signs my check wiping butter off a counter. Building bonds that I know for sure will pay in both dividends and growth later in life. The bickering, snapping over the walkie never disappoints. What’s truly shocking- whether I am fired or quit voluntarily, my love for everyone will not be deterred. Solely because of the growth bestowed upon me. Clocking in here cemented my future as a screen writer. Assisting guest has gave my soul the validation missing that I can run my own business. Keeping areas clean while still performing at your highest level allowed me to FINALLY believe in my decision making. For that I will be forever grateful. And for my people, it’s only the beginning. So until we own our own businesses, etc etc…

Thank you!!
